The Arvon Foundation is a charity that runs residential writing courses for the public at four historic houses across Britain, including at Lumb Bank, Heptonstall.
The house, which once belonged to poet Ted Hughes, is an 18th century mill owner’s house standing in 20 acres of woodland. It is intended as a place of retreat, with no television, radio or internet access.
Courses run from Mondays to Saturdays. Centre directors are Liz Flanagan and Rebecca Evans. Centre assistant is Rachel Connor.
