Getting to Heptonstall Heptonstall is nestled above Hebden Bridge. You can get to Hebden Bridge by train from either Leeds or Manchester. If you are coming from Leeds the MANCHESTER VICTORIA (note Victoria) or the BLACKPOOL NORTH trains pass through. From Manchester you need to be at Victoria station (not Piccadilly) and a train passing through LEEDS will also pass through Hebden Bridge. By car - the routes are too numerous to mention, so try the multimap link at the bottom of this page. Once you have arrived in Hebden Bridge, here are a few options: Walking By far the best way to get to Heptonstall, however, be prepared for a climb. From Hebden Bridge, follow the brown signs for Heptonstall. These signs can be seen by the cobbled footbridge that crosses the river and point up the steep cobbled path opposite the “Hole in the Wall” pub. Follow the steep cobbled path to the road (1/4 mile). Turn left at the top, cross over the road at the brow and walk up Heptonstall Rd for about 1/4 mile until you reach the village. You may need to visit one of the two pubs for a drink at this point. Bus There are two options for buses, both can be caught at the main bus stops just outside the entrance to the park on the main Burnley Rd. Catch either the “E – Blackshaw Head via Heptonstall” or “591 - Heptonstall”. The timetable can be obtained by following this link. Car Drive through Hebden Bridge along the main Burnley Road in the direction of Todmorden. Pass the coop (left hand side) and follow the road up to the traffic lights. The road you require (Fox and Goose pub on the junction) is at the traffic lights, but you cannot turn right there. Continue following the signs to the turning circle – turn around and take the left turn up Heptonstall Rd at the traffic lights. After about 1/2 mile, take the left turn up Heptonstall Rd and the village is another 1/2 mile further on. Please follow the parking signs to the Bowling Club for free parking.
