Visitor Parking

Heptonstall is a small village with a narrow, steep cobbled main street, a 20 mph speed limit and restricted access.

The Social & Bowling Club generously offers its Car Park for visitors – it is placed at the edge of the village, a short walk from the village centre. Plans are currently in place to site a guide map at the Club.

As drivers approach Heptonstall up the hill, a clear P sign will guide you left along Valley View Road, just before the cobbles begin. Please follow this sign rather than being tempted to continue into the village by car.

Follow Valley View Road, then take left again at the junction (Acres Lane). Pass the playground on your left to arrive at Heptonstall Social & Bowling Club at the end of the road.

To walk into the village:-

  • Take the lane directly opposite the car park entrance. This passes behind houses on your right and fields on your left. Cross Hepton Drive and continue to follow the unmade lane to reach the Churches, graveyards and Museum.
  • Or turn right out of the car park, cross the road and follow Southfield to your left. This will take you slightly uphill but on a level pavement along to the bottom of the village – the Tearoom, the Post Office, and Towngate left up the cobbled hill.
